When you are thriving, you will help your clients thrive.
You pursued this profession out of a desire to make a difference. You long to bring healing and positive change. During your journey as a mental health professional, you may find yourself feeling lost, overwhelmed, burnt out, uncertain and insecure. Your compassionate heart is torn between trying to figure out how to carry your clients’ pain while simultaneously finding a way to take care of your own needs and pursue your dreams.
As a Christian, you face unique challenges in the work that you do.
How do you ethically and morally handle situations when the world’s values conflict with your own convictions of faith? How do you continue to follow God’s leading in your journey as a therapist when you are flooded with the stress, anxiety, and heaviness that often seems to plague this profession? How much should you talk about faith with clients or pray for clients? How do you point your clients towards Jesus in a way that is ethical? How do you stay filled up so you can enjoy this life while pouring in to those who are hurting significantly?
You also are trying to navigate the practicality of maintaining a job that provides enough for you and your family.
Do you stick with the stability that can come from working for an established company or do you pursue the flexibility and possible increased income that can come from starting your own practice? How do you start a business and gain clients? What structures and boundaries do you need to put in place to grow and maintain an excellent practice that suits your own needs and helps your clients thrive?
You don’t have to figure this out on your own.
I have wrestled with all of these questions over the past fifteen years since I began my career as a mental health professional. Staying connected to God and pursuing intimacy with Jesus has been pivotal as I face the fears and insecurities that are bound to arise while running a Christian counseling practice. I feel a calling to impart my knowledge and support to others in the field.
Whether it’s assistance in starting your own business, leveling up the quality of work you do with clients, diving further into your relationship with the Lord, or all of the above, I can help you in your journey!
